📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
Bruce Springsteen has dedicated his new song to the people of Minneapolis, criticizing President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration enforcement operations in the city.
The lyrics to “Streets of Minneapolis,” released Wednesday, describe how “a city on fire fought fire and ice beneath the boots of the occupier,” what Springsteen calls “King Trump’s private army.”

Springsteen said in a statement that he wrote and recorded the song over the weekend and released it in response to a second fatal shooting by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.
“It is dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors, and in memory of Alex Peretti and Renee Judd,” he wrote, naming the two victims.

“The Trump administration is focused on encouraging Democrats at the state and local level to work with federal law enforcement officers to remove dangerous illegal aliens from their communities — not random songs containing irrelevant opinions and inaccurate information,” White House press secretary Abigail Jackson responded.
The slow-burning song goes from just acoustic guitar and voice to a full band tune, including a harmonica solo, and ends with chants of “ICE Out!”
“Oh Minneapolis, I hear your voice,” the president sings. “Singing through the bloody mist/We’ll take our stand for this land/And the stranger in our midst.”

The title echoes Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia,” which served as the theme song to the 1993 Tom Hanks-directed film “Philadelphia.”
Springsteen has long criticized the president, who in turn described the rock icon as “overrated.” Their last public confrontation was last year, when Springsteen told an audience while on tour in England that America was “currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and traitorous administration.” Trump responded by calling Springsteen “rock’s prunes.”
