Britain’s Caroline Dubois believes a future showdown with Alicia Baumgardner will be “the biggest fight in women’s boxing.”

The 24-year-old WBC lightweight world champion shared heated words with Baumgardner in December when both fighters appeared on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua bout.

Dubois – who turns professional in 2022 – has repeatedly criticized the unified American super featherweight world champion.

“Let’s be real, she wants to be a big star, but you need to battle for stardom,” Dubois told BBC Sport.

“You need two to tango. We both need each other. When that happens, I think it will be the biggest fight in women’s boxing.”

Dubois, the highly-rated champion who has long been touted as the future of women’s boxing, expects the bout to take place in 2027.

“This is another year of building and making things happen,” she says. “I hope she sees the benefit of this. I don’t want her to run away from this fight.”

However, before that, Dubois wants a unification fight with Terry Harper, the Doncaster-based WBO lightweight champion, later this year.
