Celtic are close to two signings and are looking forward to more – O’Neill

Celtic interim coach Martin O’Neill has revealed that two potential signings have undergone medical tests, and hinted that the club could make more deals after his side beat Falkirk 2-0 to move above Rangers into second place in the Scottish Premiership.

Parkhead signed Julian Araujo and Thomas Kvankara – both on loan – in the January transfer window from Bournemouth and Borussia Mönchengladbach, respectively.

Fans have consistently criticized the perceived lack of investment this season, while last summer’s recruitment process was a failure at best.

Benjamin Nygren is Celtic’s top scorer – the Swede took his tally to 15 with a second goal against Falkirk – but Michel Ange Palekwesha and Sebastien Tonketti are satisfied with the deception.

Free signing Kelechi Iheanacho has struggled with form and fitness, and although Kieran Tierney has impressed on points, he is not the same player who left for Arsenal in 2019.

The win over Falkirk moved O’Neill’s side back into second place after Hibernian drew with Rangers, but they still trail leaders Hearts by six points.
