Celtic played for 56 minutes with fewer men, but were resolute throughout as they prevented the Italians from snatching three points in a thrilling final quarter at a raucous Renato Dallara Stadium.

“Obviously going down to 10 men with the majority of the game remaining, that’s not ideal,” Trusty said.

“You have to hunker down and weather the storm, which we did for most of the game. They came back, but we got a point.”

“I’m just focused on getting to that level of performance every week. In league games, we don’t get pressure like that.

“A lot of teams can back down and give up and quit, but that’s not the mentality we have and that’s not the mentality we’re allowed to have.”

Trusty revealed that midfielder Hatate apologized for his sending off which resulted in one-way traffic towards the Celtic goal afterwards.

“Yes, he said sorry, but at the same time, I got red cards, and everyone here probably got red cards,” he said.

“Things happen, it’s football, we move on, your teammates are back. I don’t think any of us blame him for that, we support him.

“Obviously you don’t mean a red card, but we’re moving on with the game.

“The timing of my goal was very good and I went into the second half leading 2-0.

“I looked at the referee and thought something had happened, someone was offside, so I didn’t really get the full celebration.

He added, “But to score my goal and my first European goal, it’s amazing. This is what I want to do. I want to score more goals and celebrate with the fans.”
