pee: Martin O’Neill has somehow miraculously rejuvenated and modified these players. He should have the job until the end of the season given the performances he has put in so far.

Shawn: I would like O’Neill to take over for at least the remainder of the season. The guy is a legend and I would love to see him reach his record of 1000 games. Thank you Martin for coming back and bringing confidence with nostalgia.

Dennis: We lose players to injury and everything looks bleak. Then a pensioner steps up to help and plays the role of two young men with similar diamond discoveries.

Steven: The match was the opposite of the previous derby. So what’s the difference? Easy – change management. Celtic look like a reborn team under O’Neill while Danny Ruhl has quickly sparked a team spirit at Rangers.

pee: Celtic were a different beast. For a man they played for the shirt. Pride, passion, intensity. How great would it be to see O’Neill back on the touchline?

Carol: After watching tippy-tabby back-pass football played at a fast pace for months, the fuse has finally been lit. Best game I’ve seen in months.

Harry: O’Neill was part of a Nottingham Forest side that won two European Cups through quick counter-attacks. Rodgers’ late demise should garner no sympathy from players or fans. The level of football over the past two years has been unwatchable.

Tom: O’Neill still has the player instinct laid down by Brian Clough and has proven over the years that he has been a diligent student. He studies and thinks about everything, and it was exciting to see all the boys enjoying themselves with their rediscovered speed and style.

But there were some alternative viewpoints.

William: Sure you want a big Angie [Postecoglou] To come back – I liked the style of football we played. I also think the Celtic board made Brendan Rodgers a scapegoat, and I didn’t want it to end that way. He is still a great manager and man in my eyes.
