Success at Wembley last June ended a 45-year wait to lift the Challenge Cup for Hull KR, and marked the start of a remarkable run that has seen them win four titles in eight months.

But they lost to quarter-final rivals York in the Knights’ first Premier League match last month.

Wakefield last won this competition in 1963, but to reach the semi-finals they will have to surpass the record of 20-time winners Wigan, who have a 100% record in all competitions in 2026.

It’s another great tie for Trinity that has already whetted owner Matt Ellis’ appetite.

“If we want to go on and win the title, Wigan getting here is part of the journey,” Ellis told BBC Radio Leeds.

“I’m very excited, and I think we’ll pack everything we can. After beating a top-class team like Wigan, we really need to be here with the full support behind us.”

Wigan’s impressive form this year is matched by Warrington, who face a struggling Leigh side in the league, while St Helens will be confident of beating the Catalans at home to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2023 under new coach Paul Rowley.
