Glasgow Warriors continued their good form in the Investec Champions Cup with victory over Saracens to set up a home round of 16 tie against the Bulls.

A dazzling first-half display saw the Warriors take a 21-3 lead against their English visitors, with Ollie Smith, Kyle Steyn and George Horn all making crosses.

Saracens enjoyed more territory and possession in the second half but were unable to find a way through Glasgow’s towering defence.

Substitute Seb Steffen scored in the final to secure the bonus point as the Scots made it four wins from four and a maximum of 20 points in the pool stage.

They have now secured home advantage for a potential route to the semi-finals, while Saracens face a trip to Bath in the next round.

Knowing that a win would ensure Glasgow were ranked second, the atmosphere inside Scotstoun was electric and the home team had their fans out of their seats within 10 minutes.

Alex Craig sold a dummy inside his own half and took off running. It was blocked, but Zander Fagerson seized the stick with a thunderous carry, and as the ball swung wide, sharp hands put Smith through a gap to score.

The visitors were indebted to Lucio Senti, whose interception near the Sarries line prevented Huw Jones from getting under the sticks from a line-out move.

The Warriors were in front, and after a brilliant chase from George Horn, Juan Martin Gonzalez received a yellow card for stopping the attack near his own goal line.

Saracens’ defending was heroic, but Glasgow kept beating on the door and a clever inside ball from Horne sent Steyn a brilliant line-out to cut in and get under the posts.

It was one-way traffic and Jack Dempsey moved through two tackles freeing Horne to run to the line to score his 150th Glasgow appearance.

Sarries finally made some serious forays into the Glasgow area and Elliot Daly took them to the edge of the try line, but some titanic defending kept the Prem out and ensured the Warriors maintained their 18-point lead at the break.

The visitors emerged more purposeful in the second half and began to take the fight to Glasgow who – despite losing Kyle Rowe to the bin for a clumsy tackle on Rotimi Segun – remained resolute in defence.

A great break from Steyn put the Warriors in front again and Smith dived in search of a fourth try, but lost the ball while grounding.

Stephen made sure the bonus point arrived on the final play when he finished off a rolling smash to a powerful roar from the Scotstoun crowd.

It has been a flawless Champions Cup campaign so far for Franco Smith’s side, and the feeling that they can do something special in this competition continues to grow.
