Paris Saint-Germain will have five days off between their Champions League matches against Chelsea after their request to postpone a French League match was approved.
The European champions were due to face strugglers Nantes on the weekend of March 13-15, either side of their legs against Chelsea on Wednesday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 17, but that match has been moved to the week of April 20.
Chelsea host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, March 14 (17:30 GMT) – three days before Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain visit Stamford Bridge.
“At the request of Paris Saint-Germain, and in order to better prepare for its home and away match against Chelsea, the French Football League decided [Ligue de Football Professionnel] The French League statement said: “The Board of Directors decided, in agreement with Nantes, that the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes will take place in the week beginning April 20.”
“The exact date and time of the match will be determined at a later date.”
Paris Saint-Germain also trailed in a French League match against Nantes last season, as the confrontation initially took place between the two matches of its Champions League quarter-final victory over Aston Villa.
Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Club World Cup final last year.
