Chelsea: Liam Rosenior has agreed to become manager

Rosenior said that Strasbourg’s first-team coach, Kalifa Cisse, assistant coach Justin Walker, and head of analysis Ben Warner, will join him at Chelsea.

Roncieur joined Strasbourg in July 2024 and led the French club to seventh place in Ligue 1 last season, securing European football for the first time in eight years.

Their last match was a 1-1 draw with Nice on Saturday, their fifth league match without a win.

It ranks seventh in the French League and tops the Conference League.

“The last 18 months have been enjoyable and the best of my career,” Roncior said.

“I will love this club for the rest of my life, but I cannot refuse Chelsea.”

The former Fulham and Hull full-back has never coached in the Premier League, but has previously coached in the Championship with Derby County and the Tigers.

Rosenior said: “I would not have agreed to coach Chelsea if I had not been ready.

“There are clubs that you cannot refuse. I hope the Strasbourg fans see that and are proud of that.”

He added: “I have had interest from many clubs, including Champions League clubs, which I have always been open to [our president] Mark [Keller] And our property.”

Chelsea occupies fifth place in the English Premier League ahead of its match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday (19:30 GMT).

Caretaker coach Callum MacFarlane was in place during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
