✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:
Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is the main contender for the award Chelsea Position vacated by Enzo Maresca.
Former Leicester coach Maresca, 45, left his position as Chelsea coach on Thursday amid internal tensions with the club’s hierarchy and ownership.
The process of replacing the Italian is underway, and Englishman Rosenior is understood to be the front-runner, although sources have confirmed that other candidates are also under consideration.
Rosenior’s current employers are owned by investment firm BlueCo – the consortium set up to buy Chelsea in 2022.
The 41-year-old, who previously managed Hull City, has significant support internally at Chelsea and it is understood that candidates are being considered to replace him at Strasbourg due to his potential departure.
Porto’s Francesco Farioli has also been mooted as a potential contender.
Before appointing Maresca in 2024, Chelsea interviewed Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbe, his Ipswich counterpart Kieran McKenna, and Thomas Frank, who was at the time at Brentford but has since moved to Tottenham.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva have also been linked with the role in the past, although it is unclear whether they are now contenders.
The club will not change their playing style, so they are unlikely to move for Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
