📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:

Christian Lee is among the ONE Championship fighters who are multi-division world champions. He added his name to the elite roster by winning the vacant MMA welterweight championship belt to add to the lightweight gold he already has in his possession.

“The Warrior” did it at ONE on Prime Video 4 in November 2022 in Singapore, coming back to defeat former welterweight king Keamaryan Abbasov by technical knockout (TKO) in the fourth round.

Abbasov dropped Lee in the opening round with a huge left hook, which Brazin followed up with a barrage of powerful strikes. But the American-Singaporean fighter survived the attack and was able to finish the frame on the mat in the top position.

The two would go back and forth for the next two rounds before Christian Lee gained heat in the fourth round, connecting with powerful punches and leg kicks.

He was able to push the bout to the ground and get the leverage he needed, landing devastating ground strikes that Abbasov went unanswered, leaving the referee no choice but to stop the bout at the 4:20 mark of the round.

ONE Championship commemorated Lee’s epic come-from-behind win by uploading the full fight to its official YouTube channel.

The win over Abbasov was Lee’s second straight title win after he regained the lightweight belt with a second-round TKO win over former champion Ok Rae Yeon three months ago.

However, Christian Lee took a self-imposed two-year break after winning the welterweight world title for personal reasons, including mourning the sudden death of his younger sister and fellow ONE Team fighter Victoria in December 2022.

Christian Lee defends his MMA lightweight belt at ONE 173

Christian Lee returns to ONE Championship later this month to defend his MMA lightweight belt.

The 27-year-old champion will face Turkish challenger Alibeg Rasulov in a rematch at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Lee first met Rasulov in December last year for the lightweight gold medal, but the bout ended in a no contest after he accidentally stabbed Rasulov in the second round, and the latter was unable to continue after that.

The rematch is one of six world title matches on offer at ONE 173, which marks ONE Championship’s second live land-based event in Japan this year.

Tickets for ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri are available via ePlus in Japan. For more information and updates on the event, follow Sportskeeda MMA and ONE Championship.
