Anthropic saw widespread disruption on Monday morning, with thousands of users reporting problems accessing Cloud services.
The outage appears to affect Claude.ai as well as Claude Code, though the company said the Claude API is working as intended. Most users encountered the error when trying to log in, as shown in the screenshot below.
“The issues we’re seeing are related to Claude.ai and login/logout paths,” the company’s status page says. Anthropic has not yet provided details on what caused the outage, though the company said it has identified an issue and is implementing a fix.
The disruption comes on the heels of an influx of users to Cloud, which appears to have benefited from the attention surrounding the company’s fraught negotiations with the Pentagon. The chatbot app rose to the top of the App Store charts this weekend, overtaking archrival ChatGPT, after spending a long time under the top 20 apps.
US President Donald Trump last week asked federal agencies to stop using human products after a dispute over safeguards that prevent the Defense Department from using its artificial intelligence models for mass domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth said he would classify the company as a supply chain threat, although Anthropic says it has not yet received any formal notifications.
