Despite the drama at the end of the first half, Travis Steele’s team emerged victorious by a final score of 69-67 against the Western Michigan Broncos. They sit atop the Mid-American Conference with a 29-0 record (16-0 MAC). Peter Soder was the RedHawks’ 25th leading scorer with 18 points, three rebounds and one steal.

Western Michigan, on the other hand, fell to a 10-19 record (4-12 MAC). This loss came after beating Bowling Green 88-79 on Tuesday. Jayden Brewer was the team’s leading scorer with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist.


Travis Steele breaks his silence about his halftime outburst during the win over Western Michigan

After the final whistle, Travis Steele gave an interview to CBS Sports. He spoke about the halftime drama that earned him a technical foul

“I don’t even know how I got that technology,” Steele said. “I’m still trying to figure it out. It really bothers me. But I can’t do it. I can’t make technical mistakes. The margin for errors is very small. I have to be better.

“But listen, we’re fine. We were down midway through the half, and we didn’t play well. Stay in it. Stay in the moment. We’ve got to win our defense if we want to have a chance to win this game. And that’s what our guys did.”

The RedHawks will next face the 16-13 Toledo Rockets (10-6 MAC) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
