“As much as the mind still wants to keep going, it is finally time to listen to the body and step away from football,” Miller said in an Instagram post., external.

“I have been incredibly lucky to be living the dream of representing my club and county for over a decade, alongside some of my childhood heroes and close friends, [with] Who shared some amazing moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

“Football has been the most beautiful sport and one of my greatest teachers. Football has given me every part of me and it has challenged me and taught me difficult life lessons, but in the end it has shaped me and given me every opportunity on and off the field to become the person I am today.”

Miller went on to thank everyone who helped him during his football career.

“To my family and close friends, thank you for being there through the good days and the bad, for every sacrifice and all the unseen support. To every county, club, teammate, coach, manager, trainer, member of the medical staff, backroom team, and everyone outside of these groups who have supported me or walked with me any part of the way, I am truly grateful to all of you, thank you.”

“From a little boy in Omagh kicking a ball against the wall, dreaming big, backing himself and believing in it, I never could have imagined how it would turn out.

“This chapter closes with nothing but appreciation, love and gratitude. A little boy’s dream come true. And a full heart. Excited for what the next phase of life holds for me.”

In a statement published on the X website, externalTyrone GAA paid tribute to Miller’s “service, leadership and example”.

“Throughout his time in a Tyrone jersey, Connor has embodied everything the Red Hand stands for – humility, resilience, pride and total commitment to those he represents,” the statement read.
