Corsair Frame 4000D RS PC case review: Excellent flow

The original The Corsair 4000D was my favorite PC case ever. It featured excellent cooling, a simple but sophisticated look, and an attractive price. For just $20 more, the new Frame 4000D RS promises several major upgrades for both ease of use and flexibility, but we all know how streaks get in the way sometimes.

Having built a new test system inside, I can tell you that the condition is technically good, especially in the hands of any experienced builder. The cooling and component support is unparalleled, and some of the ease of use features are so new I can’t believe other case makers haven’t thought of them before.

However, I don’t feel that the Frame version of this case has the elegant simplicity that I found so pleasing in the old 4000D. Now it’s designed to please edge computing enthusiasts, with wider component support, better cooling, and a fresh, new look with even more stunning hardware. The upside is clear: people get improved component support, more build options, and the same nice style. The trade-off is a slightly noisier case with some usability complications.

Minor complaints aside, the new Frame 4000D RS is still one of the best cases you can build in, and I’ll gladly recommend it moving forward, even if I hope it’s an addition to Corsair cases, not a replacement.

The biggest compliment I can give the 4000D RS frame is that, with a few exceptions, I never had to cram my hands into any weird spaces or bend cables at weird angles to get it to fit. The main contributing factor to this is the presence of a variety of moving panels in places that were not used to moving in the old case, or in most cases, for that matter. It’s an area where Corsair cases have always excelled, but some thoughtful additions here make it more realistic than ever.
