Davey Todd is a doubt for the North West 200 after he broke his femur in a crash at Daytona, USA.
Todd, 30, was involved in an accident during qualifying for the Daytona 200 on Thursday and underwent surgery for his injuries.
It was the second crash of the session for the English rider who had been collected earlier by another rider.
Todd said the team thought they had fixed his PHR’s performance and he got back on the track but the steering “got messed up” and he hit the wall.
This accident resulted in multiple injuries, including a broken femur, leg, foot and nose.
In an update on his Instagram account, Todd said he had surgery “to put a rod in my femur and reattach my bone back together, so we’re positive now that we’re on the mend and taking steps to move forward and get healthy again.”
Todd, who is set to race in the British Superbike Championship with 8TEN team-mate Peter Hickman as well as the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT, said he “can’t really give an ETA” on when he will return to action.
“We are taking it day by day and trying to recover as quickly as possible. I have already started standing on my left leg, which I am allowed to do since the surgery.
He added: “I’m going to work really hard, and a lot of great people have helped me and given me advice on what I need to do to be as fit as possible, as soon as possible.”
The North West 200 takes place from May 6 to 9, while the Isle of Man TT is scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 30.
Todd is a multiple race winner in both international road races, with three wins on the Isle of Man and nine wins in the North West 200 in Northern Ireland.
