Deborah Silvestri crash: The Italian broke five ribs in the women’s Milan-San Remo crash

Italian Deborah Silvestri broke five ribs and suffered a small fracture to her shoulder in a serious collision during the women’s one-day classic Milan-San Remo.

The accident, in which the Laboral Kotxa rider went headfirst over a roadside barrier and fell several meters to the bottom of the road while trying to take action to avoid it, occurred on the descent of the famous Cipressa climb and involved a number of competitors.

Silverstree, 27, was taken to hospital after the accident.

She later posted on Instagram:, external “I feel very good, five broken ribs and a small fracture in the shoulder – it could be worse.

“It’s time to recover but don’t worry, I’ll be back.”

Also participating in the build-up were Poland’s Kasia Niyadoma and Kim Le Court from Mauritius.

Her team Laboral Kutxa, external Silverstree said he was “conscious” when taken to hospital after the accident.

They later added:, external He added: “She will remain in the hospital for the next few hours under medical supervision, and more tests will be conducted to evaluate the extent of the injuries.”

Belgian Lotte Kubicki beat Switzerland’s Noemi Roig in a sprint down the line to win the women’s 156km race, with the men’s race starting at the first Monument of the season.

“I hope everyone is okay,” Lubecki said when speaking about the accident after the race.
