Denis O’Sullivan in Liverpool’s new challenge

O’Sullivan’s mission is clear: to help Liverpool move away from the bottom of the Women’s Super League table and pick up points.

Gareth Taylor’s side remain winless in the WSL this season, but have made a move in the transfer window, adding six new signings – including O’Sullivan.

The Reds, two-time Champions League winners, moved to elite training facilities at Melwood in 2023, but have fallen behind the biggest English clubs on the pitch.

“I think the club has a clear vision. They want the team in the next few years to get there and win Premier League titles,” O’Sullivan said.

“I know the situation the team is in and the main thing is to help them get out of this situation and get out of the relegation battle. This is what I want to offer.

“When you come to a big club like Liverpool, there is an automatic responsibility on you to perform and give 100% for the shirt.

“It’s really exciting for me and a big challenge. The club has a great history and has won many trophies. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

O’Sullivan, who has 128 caps for the Republic of Ireland, has watched Liverpool from afar and believes their performance deserves more points.

Now there is more competition in the squad from new arrivals, and O’Sullivan says Liverpool have been working on their “identity” in training.

O’Sullivan said: “Their style of play will suit me really well. They’re a high-pressing team and I like them as a player. I’m aggressive.”

“They have a really clear identity and style of play, and I know my role within the team now. You can hold each other accountable for that role.

“I think that’s a really positive thing, Gareth [Taylor] It’s been great so far. “He’s a really good coach and the little details he sees are something I haven’t had a lot of.”
