Derry City: Tiernan Lynch firmly believes he can turn around form as Dundalk loss adds to pressure

Derry City boss Tiernan Lynch said he “firmly believes I can turn this around” despite mounting pressure on his position.

The Candystripes slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Dundalk at Oriel Park to extend their winless run in the Premier League to seven games.

Lynch’s side sit sixth in the table, 18 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers, although tipped to be a title challenger this season, but the manager is confident he is the man to get them back on track.

He told BBC Radio Foyle: “I think every day. I don’t need a break to think. As I said and I keep saying, I look at everything we do and the only thing I have to do is keep believing that I can turn this around.”

“I firmly believe I can turn this around and I know no one wants to hear it now, we’ve just lost. If it’s just me thinking, I don’t think anyone needs to worry about my thinking.

“We need to win straight away. Dominating performances and possession, that’s definitely how I want my team to play and certainly what I think the fans want to see, but we have to score goals.

“It was very frustrating with a lot of things going on. We have to win games, that’s the bottom line.”
