✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

Following the success of TikTok and Instagram Reels, Disney announced it will bring short-form video content to Disney+ in the US this year in an effort to boost everyday engagement. Disney made the announcement at the Tech + Data Showcase event at CES 2026.

The experience “will evolve as we expand across news and entertainment and deliver a more personalized, dynamic experience that cements Disney+ as an everyday must-visit destination,” the company said in a blog post.

Disney told Deadline that the videos could include short-form original content, repurposed social clips, scenes from TV shows or movies, or a combination thereof.

“Clearly, we’re thinking about integrating vertical video in ways that align with core user behaviors,” Erin Teague, executive vice president of product management at Disney Entertainment and ESPN, told Deadline. “So, it’s not going to be a random, disjointed trial.”

The move comes as Disney launched a dedicated vertical video feed in the ESPN app last year.

By bringing short-form video content to Disney+, the company is targeting younger users who are accustomed to watching quick clips on their phones instead of long-form content like TV shows and movies.

Disney+ wouldn’t be the first company to explore vertical video, as Netflix launched a vertical feed last year that lets users scroll through clips from its original titles.
