💡 Main takeaway:

Fleetwood started the final round in second place, two shots behind Japan’s Keita Nakajima.

New Zealander Daniel Hillier – ranked 218th in the world – jumped to the lead suddenly, after advancing to seventh place under his round, but he was unable to recover from the sixth double bogey on the fourteenth.

Meanwhile, Nakajima was unable to conjure a fireworks third-round 65, and had to settle for a third-place finish on the DP World Tour.

However, Englishman Fleetwood, whose putter froze during a frustrating third round on Saturday, made four consecutive birdies around the turn – from the seventh to the 10th – followed by impressive birdie putts at the 14th and 17th, to beat the latter by a comfortable two-shot advantage.

His latest win ensured his qualification for the ACL Championships, continuing a recent run that also included a star turn in a European Ryder Cup win over the USA in New York.

“There have been a lot of times when things haven’t gone my way, but in the last two tournaments I’ve been competing in I’ve won, so maybe things are starting to look up a little bit,” Fleetwood added after the latest accomplishment of a fantastic season, in which he claimed eight top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour.

Fellow Englishman Alex Fitzpatrick birdied the final to finish with a third straight round of 67, moving him to 18 under and tied for third place alongside Ireland’s Shane Lowry.

Viktor Hovland finished his week on a high note, moving up to 17-under and a share of fourth place after replacing an eagle in last place.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy finished tied for 25th on 11 points under.
