Dr DisRespect and Marathon Partnership Controversy: What Exactly Happened?

Controversial internet personality Herschel “Guy”, known as “Dr DisRespect”, attracted attention on social media after he claimed to be a partner in Bungie’s upcoming game, Marathon, only for the game’s developer to later reveal that they were not partnering with the YouTuber.

It all started on February 25, 2026, when Dr. DisRespect took to X to claim that he “just finished taking photos” for an upcoming event in collaboration with Marathon. He also shared a screenshot of an Adobe After Effects window titled “Marathon GS 1 undefeated.aep.”

The permanently banned Twitch streamer wrote:

“I just finished our photoshoot for tomorrow and the team sent me a sneak peek. Tomorrow there will be a movie screening #marathonpartner”

Later that day, Forbes Journalist Paul Tassie asked Bungie if The Doc’s partnership with Marathon is real, or if the creator is “making it up again.”

In response, the official marathon development team stated that Dr DisRespect was not partnering with them:

“(Paul Tassi wrote, ‘Is this a real Bungie partnership or did he just make it up again?’) He’s not a partner.”

“Your depression is so obvious” – Dr. Dispect clashes with Paul Tassi amid marathon partnership controversy

On February 25, 2026, Dr. DisRespect posted screenshots of X users who reported on the controversy surrounding his claims about partnering with Marathon.

Commenting on the state of the industry in 2026, the 43-year-old wrote:

“This is the industry in 2026. These people are so real and serious too. I love it. #marathonpartner”

Paul Tassie tweeted “Two-Time Champ’s” post, noting that he “doesn’t know what this means.” He added:

“I don’t know what that means. But I never get it. Is the joke that he pretends the developers still respect him enough to work with him, but they don’t? That’s the punchline?” Paul Tassie wrote in his post X.

Dr. DisRespect responded to Tassie by saying that his “depression is very evident”:

“You should be having more fun in life because your depression is so obvious. Maybe you stop using the internet, work on your social life, go camping, go hiking… anything. Enjoy yourself for once because when I look at your entire Twitter feed, I see its negative, isolated energy.”

This isn’t the first time Dr DisRespect has been caught lying about collaborating with a game before its release. On January 26, 2026, the YouTube streamer shared an alleged AI-generated image to claim that he had been invited to a Highguard launch event.

The director of the content creator for Highguard and Wildlight later clarified that The Doc had not been invited to any events.
