When Meister held his first news conference on Friday, he repeatedly returned to his two basic principles: ambition and humility.
“I’m here – so far away from my family – because I’m that ambitious,” he added.
“I want to be a part of the new building process, hmm [London City Lionesses] They are trying to become a club at the highest level in the world.”
The 39-year-old’s sense of purpose is rooted in how precisely the club’s vision reflects his personal values.
“One of my own phrases is ‘Dream big, realise big,’” Meister said.
“The club’s goals are very aligned with my individual values in my life, so this alignment has given me the confidence to try and use this season to continue building that foundation, and dream big next season.”
While he is fully aware of London City’s desire to stand alongside the elite of women’s football, he believes progress must be rooted in humility.
“If you want to win, the first step or the first pillar is to be humble and respect the opponent you faced,” Meister explained.
“We cannot lose the humble vision this season, because it will be a very strong foundation to build on and continue building the foundations.
“We want to be humble, but we dream big, and that’s the balance we want.”
