📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:

Snowsill has welcomed the additional funding provided by the WRU for Celtic Challenge teams Brython Thunder and Gwalia Lightning.

It will allow for dual contracts, additional coaching staff and resources – all with the aim of attracting Welsh talent to Wales.

“We 100% have to bring players back if they don’t make the squad or play a significant amount of rugby [in England’s Premiership Women’s Rugby]”, she said.

But Snowsell believes the deal must be competitive or the players will remain in England, even if they do not feature in the matchday squads.

“We have worked hard to develop our talent, and the challenge now with this new funding is to make sure we make staying in Wales as attractive as possible and being part of the journey,” she said.

“It won’t happen overnight.

“But I really believe come the next World Cup – and the one after that – that Wales will go into the top three.”

As well as the extra money in the Celtic Challenge, the WRU is also proposing a new four-club league, with teams competing against each other in a league format.
