ElevenLabs launches a new music generation app powered by artificial intelligence

Audio AI company ElevenLabs has quietly released an iOS app called ElevenMusic that can be used to create music using AI and discover AI-generated music in order to compete with platforms like Suno and Udio.

The new app, which has been listed on the App Store for a few weeks and was finally released on April 1, indicates that ElevenLabs wants to be more than just an audio modeling company. The company sees tools that use AI to create music and other media as a way to grow and protect itself from the eventual commoditization of audio AI models.

ElevenMusic is currently free to use, and users can create up to seven songs per day using natural language prompts. Users can also adjust the length of the song, if the song contains lyrics, and the writing style.

Users can discover songs created by others, as well as remix them using text prompts. These adjustments will also count towards the daily limit. The app has live stations, pre-created albums, and daily mixes with different moods like Focus, Energy, Relaxed, Late Night, Cosmic, and Chill. As with other music streaming apps like Spotify and Apple Music, there are top charts and new releases sections.

The company also offers a Pro tier for $9.99 per month or $95.90 per year. This subscription will enable users to create up to 500 tracks each month, provide over 500GB of storage space, and provide access to all kinds of styles and moods.

ElevenLabs, which raised a $500 million Series C round at a $11 billion valuation in February, has been ramping up its creative models and tools over the past few months. Last August, the company released its first model of the Music Generation, which it claimed was commercially safe. Earlier this year, the company also partnered with top music producers to release an album created with the help of artificial intelligence. The startup recently released a creative tool that can handle ad creation, voiceovers, translation, image creation, video making, audio cloning, audio creation, and more.

The company has had consumer tools such as ElevenLabs and ElevenReader audio generation until now. It also started a program to allow authors to earn royalties for converting and distributing their books on the ElevenReader platform last year. ElevenLabs, which is also hiring a consumer marketing role to grow its music business, could offer royalties or other incentives to users to create more music on its platform.
