Emma Raducano picked up her first win of the season as she completed a straight sets victory over Camila Osorio after their match at the Hobart International was suspended due to rain.

The 23-year-old Briton won the first set but trailed her Colombian opponent 4-2 in the second when the match ended early on Tuesday.

However, she overcame a break down deficit on her return on Wednesday and drew shouts of joy after winning 6-3 7-6 (7-2).

Top seed Raducano avoided playing two matches on the same day after her opponent, Magdalena Frisch, withdrew from the second round due to injury.

Instead, the former US Open champion will advance to the quarter-finals against Australian Tayla Preston, a wild card, on Thursday as she intensifies her preparations for the Australian Open.

“A very difficult match. We played in all conditions and it was really difficult to come in and out several times,” Raducano said.

“I don’t think I slept through many of the matches in between, so that was new for me.

“I thought Camila played an amazing game. I’m really happy with the way she came out today and turned things around.”
