England vs New Zealand: Freeman and Chisum injury doubts for Saturday’s Autumn International

England have injury concerns for Tommy Freeman and Ollie Chisum in the Autumn International against New Zealand on Saturday.

Versatile full-back Freeman is being monitored with a hamstring injury, while second-row Chissom has a foot injury and was spotted at the England team hotel on crutches.

The British and Irish Lions duo started England’s wins over Australia and Fiji, but missed training on Monday.

Head coach Steve Borthwick has plenty of other winger options should Northampton prop Freeman be ruled out.

Elliot Daly is available for selection after completing his recovery from the broken forearm sustained on the Lions tour, while Tom Roebuck appears to have overcome an ankle injury and Henry Arundel staked his starting place with a stunning try in Saturday’s 38-18 win over Fiji.

Meanwhile, Freddie Steward appears to have recovered from a hand injury to compete with Daly and Marcus Smith for the full-back position.

Captain Maro Itoje started against Fiji on the bench on Saturday and could take over for Chisum, with Alex Coles retaining his place in the starting line-up.

England have recorded nine Test victories under Borthwick and rose to fourth in the world rankings this week with victory over Fiji, leapfrogging France after losing to world champions South Africa.

Borthwick is expected to announce his team on Thursday.
