📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandes appeared non-committal about his long-term future at Stamford after the Blues were knocked out of the Champions League by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
After trailing 5-2 in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week, the Blues were dealt a shock early on Tuesday (17 March) in the second leg, with Hvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barkula scoring twice in the space of 12 minutes. Ceni Maiolo struck midway through the second half to deliver the knockout blow.

Following their Champions League exit, the Blues are now just two competitions down, with eight Premier League games remaining and an FA Cup quarter-final tie against Port Vale in League One next month.
Fernandes has a contract with Stamford Bridge until 2032, but speculation is growing about his departure in the summer. The midfielder didn’t quell those reports when speaking about his future at the club (according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via ESPN Argentina):
“I don’t know, there are 8 matches left and the FA Cup. There is the World Cup, and then we will see.”
Having arrived at the Blues in a British record £121m transfer in January 2023, Fernandes has made nearly 50 appearances across competitions this season, contributing 12 goals and six assists.
“Paris Saint-Germain deserves to qualify” – Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandes after being eliminated from the Champions League

Enzo Fernandes, who captained Chelsea that night, spoke of his side’s last-16 exit from the Champions League, where they suffered their heaviest aggregate defeat in the competition.
Fernandes, who captained the team in Reece James’s absence, admitted that the defending champions were the better team in both matches and deserved to reach the quarter-finals.
He said (according to the BBC): “I think we failed to control the match.” “In the first leg, we lost focus in the last 15 minutes and conceded three goals, and that’s what happened at the beginning. At this level, you can’t score goals so quickly because of small details. In the end, in the two legs, Paris Saint-Germain was the better team and deserved to qualify.
“Since I arrived at Chelsea, we have already been through similar situations and managed to turn them around. Now, our focus must be on winning the FA Cup and achieving our goal of qualifying for the Champions League next season.”
The Blues will face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday (March 21), hoping to return to winning ways after a 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United last weekend.
