Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca says reports describe him as a potential successor to Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola “100% speculation”.
The 45-year-old is Guardiola’s former assistant at City, and there have been multiple reports that his mentor could step down at the end of this season.
The Italian was appointed as Chelsea coach in June 2024 and his contract runs until 2029, with the option to extend for a further season.
When asked if there was any truth to the City reports, Maresca said: “This does not affect me at all because I know that this is 100% speculation. At this moment, there is no time for this kind of thing.”
“First of all, because I have a contract here until probably 2029. And I’ve said many times, my focus is only on this club and I’m very proud to be here. But again, it’s speculation. One week ago I was in Italy, same thing with Juventus. So I don’t care because I know it’s not true.”
Fourth-placed Chelsea will play Newcastle in the English Premier League on Saturday at 12:30 GMT.
