Celtic will play Stuttgart and Nottingham Forest against Fenerbahce in two play-off matches to reach the round of 16 in the Europa League.
Martin O’Neill’s side could also have been pitted against Hungarian club Ferencvaros, managed by Robbie Keane, but will instead face the Bundesliga club.
The first leg will be held at Celtic Park, and the winner of the confrontation will play either with Porto – who defeated O’Neill’s team in the 2003 UEFA Cup final – or with another Portuguese team, Braga, in the round of 16.
Forest, whose alternative match was against Panathinaikos of Greece, will play with Midtjylland or Real Betis if they pass the Turkish club.
The playoff matches will be held on February 19 and 26.
Celtic booked their place in the play-offs with a 4-2 win over Utrecht to secure 21st place in the league stage table.
Forest won 4-0 over Ferencvaros in their final league game to finish 13th and earn a home draw in the second leg of the play-off.
The top eight teams from the league stage – Lyon, Aston Villa, Midtjylland, Real Betis, Porto, Braga, Freiburg and Roma – qualified for the round of 16.
The 2026 Europa League Final will be held on May 20 at Besiktas Park in Istanbul, Türkiye.
