Luke Littler and Luke Humphreys both qualified for the second round of the European Championship in Germany with emphatic victories.

World champion Littler achieved a 6-1 victory over his childhood hero, the Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld.

The 18-year-old finished with an average of 98.97 and a pass success rate of 46.2%, besting the five-time world champion.

Humphries was more emphatic in the Westfalenhalle match in Dortmund, when he crushed Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski 6-0.

Littler, who will next face James Wade, will become world number one for the first time in his career if he wins the tournament.

Nathan Aspinall continued his recent good form by defeating Rob Cross 6-1, while Danny Nobert beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-3.
