Everton’s Kelly Gago ‘free to go’ if PSG offer £500,000 release fee

Everton striker Kelly Gago “could leave” if another club offered a release clause fee in her contract, says manager Brian Sorensen.

Gago, 27, told the French newspaper L’Equipe, external Last week it was reported that Everton were blocking a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

She also described their treatment of her as “unfair” and claimed that an incident involving one of Sorensen’s coaching staff during a training session left her in tears.

The French international has two and a half years left on her contract with Everton after signing an extension in June.

It is understood that her release clause is around £500,000, and Paris Saint-Germain made a bid of €50,000 (£43,000) this month.

It is not believed that any other bids have been made for Gago.

“She’s out at the moment. She’s not ready or available to play. She wants to leave,” Sorensen said before Everton’s match against Brighton (Friday, 19:00 GMT).

“She has a release clause in her contract so the club that wants her can pay that clause and she is free to leave.

“From my point of view, the 10% release clause has been introduced, so I don’t think it will go anywhere.”

Asked if there was a chance that Gago would play for Everton again this season, Sorensen added: “I don’t know at this stage. We have to see how things go.”
