EveryPlate Meal Kit Review (2026): Low cost, simplicity, and flavor

This yen for experimentation can extend to brand partnerships. The meal I was least excited about in this season’s test was actually the meal I was most excited about to begin with. EveryPlate has piloted a series of partnerships with food brands, including Chinese-inspired dumpling brand Mimi Cheng’s in New York. In this case, the flavors didn’t quite come together, and many of the dumplings arrived broken. Meanwhile, EveryPlate has moved on and now prepares dishes using chickpeas and flavored beans from artisan canning brand Heyday.

I’ve had some mishaps with components, but they happen. The zucchini in my last order got some moisture or water lost in its bag. By the time I got there, at the end of the week, it was death for the zucchini. I had to use my own, which fortunately was in the fridge already.

I also had to make a special trip to get eggs to fill my turkey and ponzu rice bowl, because I neglected to look at the recipe. There aren’t a lot of ingredients you need to have on hand to make EveryPlate dishes, but milk, eggs, and butter are sometimes among them. Look ahead when ordering or receiving prescriptions.

Layers can appear more in EveryPlate recipes than they do with premium sets like HelloFresh or Marley Spoon. I find myself improvising a little: adding additional flavors afterwards, or using meat drippings in a side dish, or changing the order of operations. If I had my own drawing tools, I would use my favorite preparation on the Brussels sprouts rather than risk wiping out stray leaves in the oven.

But mostly, what EveryPlate offers is a foundation from which to work. It provides an escape from my tiring routine: the thought put into my meals by someone who is not me. A meal where I buy a $7 egg is still a budget meal, and it’s much more filling than what I would eat otherwise. The EveryPlate remains the most budget-friendly meal kit I’m happy to eat on a regular basis, which is a remarkable feat in uncertain times.
