Exeter City are working against time to ensure Saturday’s League One match against Burton Albion can be played following a fire at their stadium.
The control room and medical room at St James’ Park were badly damaged in a fire last week.
Cables from the control room, which are essential to the safe operation of the game, were destroyed and will be replaced on Tuesday.
The ground must be approved by the local council’s Safety Advisory Group before the match starts.
Clive Harrison, Exeter City’s general manager, told BBC Radio Devon: “If we can’t provide cover from the control room – they control the stewards and the CCTV and everything like that – they will make the call that the ground is not safe to operate.”
“In the fire, it was mostly the cables that melted, the equipment was intact, but the problem was the cables running around the stadium.
“You can’t replace something in there because there are fire alarms and CCTV cables running around the pitch, so that room has to be back up and running.”
