Gainsborough Trinity coach Ross Wilcox hopes to be spoiled for choice after Sunday’s FA Cup tie against League Two club Accrington Stanley.
The president of the seventh division team will miss his niece’s wedding in the first round match.
When asked by BBC Radio Lincolnshire if he was aiming to make it to the post-wedding reception after the match at The Northolme, Wilcox said: “Maybe, unless there’s a party here.
“And if there’s a party here, I’ll stay,” he continued, laughing.
Wilcox explained that his family had him in mind when deciding when to tie the knot, as the wedding was deliberately not scheduled for a Saturday when Gainsborough play the majority of their matches in the Northern Premier League.
“My niece deliberately moved it to Sunday so it wouldn’t include a football game, thinking we would play on Saturday,” Wilcox said.
“I’ll be there on Saturday to spend some time with them, then I’ll leave on Sunday morning with plenty of time to get back to the game.
“There was disappointment there, but she understands that things are the way they are. The match could have been on TV on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
“For us, he was dropped on the wrong day, but for me, he was dropped on the right day because we are in the first round of the FA Cup.”
