Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Fabio Paratici will return to his position as sporting director two and a half years after being suspended by FIFA.
BBC Sport reported in May that talks were underway over a potential return for the 53-year-old.
Paratici will take on the joint sporting director role with Johan Lange and will oversee Tottenham’s men’s football strategy including performance development, scouting and recruitment.
He resigned from his position in April 2023 after Italy’s highest sports court rejected his appeal against FIFA’s decision to ban him for 30 months for financial violations.
The Italian was suspended after Juventus, where he was sporting director and managing director before joining Tottenham in 2021, was found guilty of false accounting and deducted 10 points in the Italian League.
Last month, a judge in Rome accepted a plea deal request made by Paratici and other former Juventus executives, meaning he will not have to serve an 18-month prison sentence.
Plea deals in Italy do not involve an admission of guilt or any acceptance of responsibility.
“I am happy to return to the club I love,” Paratici said.
“I have been working with Johan and Vinay [Venkatesham] And Thomas [Frank] I have been a consultant for a number of months and I am now looking forward to returning to London and joining the team full time.
“I am convinced that working in partnership with Johan we can build a special future for the club and our supporters.”
Tottenham will complete their new leadership structure by appointing a Director of Football Operations to work alongside Paratici and Lange.
Until then, the club’s women’s team will remain under the direct control of Venkatesham.
