Fans react when Jeremiyah Love appears to overshadow the Cowboys at the NFL Combine

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams expected to draft running back/linebacker Jeremiah Love in the first round of this year’s draft. However, at the NFL Scouting Combine, he had an interesting answer when asked about this potential collaboration.

During Saturday’s press conference in Indianapolis, Love appeared to take a jab at Jerry Jones’ team when discussing his draft offer. He took a long pause when asked about joining the Cowboys.

“Have you met a cowboy? I think that’s what I did,” Love said. “Or maybe I didn’t. I don’t know. I’ve been doing a lot of running around and meetings with coaches. I mean the Cowboys are great.”

“My dad’s a Steelers fan and he doesn’t like the Cowboys. But I don’t really care. I mean, … (pause). I mean I’d be lucky to go anywhere. I’d be lucky to go anywhere. It would be an honor to go to the Stars or any other team, too.”

Fans on social media shared their reactions to Jeremiah Love’s comments.

The Cowboys haven’t won a Lombardi Trophy since Super Bowl XXX, 30 years ago. They have failed to qualify for the playoffs in the past two seasons, raising questions about the team. During the 2025 campaign, they finished the season with a 7-9-1 record.

Jeremiah Love spent his entire career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He joined them in 2023 as a true freshman. In three seasons, the running back played in 41 games and recorded 2,882 yards rushing and 36 TDs, along with 594 yards on 63 receptions with six touchdowns.

Jeremiah Love shares his thoughts on being drafted by the Chiefs

On Saturday’s episode of the “Rich Eisen Show,” Jeremiah Love spoke about his expectations in recent mock drafts.

The running back then complimented Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and got honest about joining them.

“I’ll be close to home,” Love said. “Yes, I would be (until I get drafted by the Chiefs). Especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he’s the best quarterback right now. The best in the league. … It would be an honor to play with him.”

The Chiefs had the ninth overall pick in the first round of this year’s draft. Will they use it on the former Notre Dame running back?
