After months of teasers, Ferrari gives the first full preview of its Luce electric car. The Luce is not only Ferrari’s first electric car, but also designed in collaboration with Jony Ive and Mark Newson in the LoveFrom collective. It will also be Ferrari’s second four-door car and its first five-seater.
We already knew that Ive and Newson were working on the interiors of the Luce, which was shown off earlier this year. Now Ferrari says LoveFrom has been allowed to “set the design direction of the project from the beginning,” inside and out.
Reported by Tim Stevens Engadget He offers some first-hand impressions of the car, which he describes as more like an SUV than a traditional sports car. He wasn’t able to experience the fully functional interior controls or take a test drive, but he noted that with four motors and 1,035 horsepower, it should be set up for success. He complimented the car’s sound, which seems to pick up and amplify vibrations from the rear motors rather than entirely manufactured like many electric cars. It is reported that although there is no specific price in the United States, it will start at 550,000 euros in Italy, making it the most expensive Ferrari to date.
