FIFA fined the Israeli Football Association for “discrimination and racist abuse.”

“The size, design and placement of the banner on the field must be submitted to FIFA at least 15 days before each match for approval,” FIFA said in a statement.

It also ordered the Italian Football Federation to “invest a third of the fine… in implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure measures against discrimination and to prevent the recurrence of incidents.”

FIFA added that “the decision remains subject to a possible appeal” by FIFA.

The Palestinian Football Association also accused the Israeli Football Association of “allowing the inclusion of football teams located on the territory of another federation (Palestine) in the national league.”

In this regard, FIFA said that it “should not take any action given that the final legal status of the West Bank remains an unresolved and highly complex matter under public international law.”

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Football Association said its national team’s friendly matches against Mauritania and Benin in Morocco later this month have been canceled due to the conflict in the Middle East.
