Formula One is heading for its biggest-ever change to its regulations next season, with new rules for both chassis and engine, and it is unknown which team will be in better shape.
“I’m really proud to continue our journey together,” said Russell, who has won two races in 2025 and is fourth in the Drivers’ Championship with six races remaining. “Next year will be my 10th year since signing with Mercedes in 2017.”
“It has been a long and successful partnership with the team so far and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead, especially as we begin the regulations changes.
“We are all incredibly focused on achieving this success and, for me personally, building on my strongest season in Formula 1 to date.”
Antonelli will move into his second season after replacing Lewis Hamilton at the team following the seven-time champion’s move to Ferrari.
The 19-year-old Italian took pole position in the sprint race in Miami in May, and also finished on the podium for the first time in Canada in June, where Russell took his first win of the season.
But Antonelli has had an up-and-down year, and a series of errors during the European season led Wolff to describe his performance at the Italian Grand Prix as “disappointing”.
He has since finished fourth and fifth at the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan and Singapore.
Antonelli admitted that pressure was on him at times during his first season, but the team believes in his potential as a future winner.
He said: “I am very excited to continue with the team. I have learned a lot in my first season in Formula 1, both in the good moments and the more challenging ones.”
“All of these things have made me stronger, not only as a driver but as a teammate too. I want to thank Toto and everyone at Brackley and Brixworth for their continued support and confidence in me.”
