✅ Main takeaway:
Eberechi Eze, Arsenal, £7.7m – Chelsea (A)
Why not ride the hot hand of London Derby Champion Izzy?
His hat-trick against Tottenham was no surprise, and he made this team the week before because of his basic stats.
With 31 shots in 11 matches, Eze leads the way among Arsenal players. He had six in the Derby alone.
The only note of caution is that he has yet to have a “big opportunity” this season. While he has 21 shots in the box, they tend to be near the edge of the box. All his goals against Tottenham were from approximately 15-16 yards.
But when you’re good at shooting from distance, is that really a problem?
Morgan Gibbs-White, Nottingham Forest, £7.3m – Brighton (h)
Speaking of hot streaks, Gibbs-White has scored three goals in three games for a revitalized Forest side led by Sean Dyche.
He scored 10 runs in this Team of the Week in his last home game against Leeds, so he’s back in action.
Forest have a good run of games coming up too, with Wolves away after that.
Morgan Rogers, Aston Villa, £6.9m – Wolves (h)
It would be remiss not to target Wolves this week, as they have lost five in a row and conceded 27 goals in 12 games.
If you’re feeling brave, Donyell Malen is Villa’s most explosive midfield option, with a highest expected goals (xG) of 2.08 this season, four big chances (three more than any other midfielder) and three goals.
But his playing time is not guaranteed and Rogers showed with a brace last week at Leeds what a key part of Villa’s attack he is. His goal and assist make him an easy option this week.
Phil Foden, Manchester City, £8 million – Leeds (h)
Since scoring twice against Manchester United in Week 4, Foden has provided just one assist, but that doesn’t tell the full story of some good performances.
First, create 20 chances. He has taken more shots in that period than any City player except Haaland – 14 – and has an xG of 1.29.
This match against struggling Leeds is certainly the moment when Foden turns key data into returns.
Dango Ouattara, Brentford, £6 million – Burnley (h)
Burnley have the strongest defense in the league away from home and are the team to attack this week.
It’s a toss-up between Outarra and Kevin Schade for a position in midfield. First off, they have almost identical xG of 0.27 and 0.28.
What swings Otara’s way is that his big chances stand at 0.88 per 90 minutes compared to Shedd’s 0.33.
If you’ve watched Outarra lately, he seems to always be chipped into the box, so his assist potential is high.
