Gamma is adding AI image creation tools in an attempt to take on Canva and Adobe

Gamma, a platform that lets you use artificial intelligence to create presentations and websites, is launching a new image creation product to create marketing assets as it seeks to better compete with the likes of Canva and Adobe.

The company says its new product, called Gamma Imagine, will allow users to use text prompts to create brand assets such as infographics, interactive visuals, marketing collateral, social graphics, and infographics. Gamma currently offers over 100 templates, which you can use in conjunction with its AI tools to create the type of assets you need.

To power its data-driven asset creation features, the company integrates with tools like ChatGPT, Cloud, Make, Zapier, Atlassian, n8n, and Superhuman Go.

“When we started working with a lot of our early users, we realized that in the presentations they wanted to create, there were a variety of graphic design use cases that they all had as well,” Grant Lee, CEO and co-founder of Gamma, told TechCrunch. “So we worked alongside them to develop a new set of tools that would allow them to go beyond just the traditional presentation format,” he said.

Lee believes Gamma falls nicely between professional tools like Adobe or Figma, and older tools like Microsoft PowerPoint.

“We think we can serve a very long line of knowledge workers and business professionals whose work requires communicating visually, but they don’t have the tools,” he said. “They need to bring in a design resource so they can help with these things, and we want to make a native, AI-driven approach that serves their needs in a medium that we feel is really underserved.”

Last November, Gamma raised $68 million in a Series B round led by a16z, at a valuation of $2.1 billion. At the time, the company said it had an annual revenue rate of $100 million and 70 million users. The company told TechCrunch that it is approaching 100 million users now.
