He added: “Children need to learn that they can buy a set of darts that will cost you £10, £20, £30, £40, £50, rather than spending hundreds of pounds on throwing darts and playing with the game.
“Just let them play darts and enjoy it. Buy a set of darts for £20 and go and enjoy a game of darts. End of it, easy.”
Although it’s unclear who Anderson was referring to, his rant comes after the announcement that YouTuber and I’m a Celebrity Winner “Angry Ginge” is considering enrolling in the PDC Qualifying School, which is open to any darts player 16 years and older to compete to win a PDC Tour card.
The influencer, whose real name is Morgan Birtwistle, said he could attend the event in Milton Keynes next year to test himself on the stage against the sport’s elite.
Burtwistle is a close friend of Luke Littler and was most recently at Ally Pally supporting “The Nuke” as he won the World Championship.
Former prop Matthew Edgar disagrees with Anderson, telling the Mission Darts Podcast that Burtwistle’s trip would be good for the sport.
“I think that would be good for the match,” he said.
“If he shows some progress from where he is now, it will show people that it’s a potential path and it’s an actual journey. So I’m all for that, to be honest.”
Anderson will face James Wade in the second round on Saturday.
