James “Jazza” Dickens [36-5, 15 KOs] He will make the first defense of his WBA super featherweight title against Belfast’s Anthony Kakas [24-1, 9 KOs] At 3 Arena in Dublin on Saturday 14 March.

The 34-year-old Liverpool player was promoted to full champion in early December as Lamont Roach was stripped of the belt, having fought in lightweight and lightweight bouts since his last title defense against County Tyrone’s Fergal McCrory in June 2024.

Deakins won the interim title with a fourth round stoppage of Albert Batyrgaziev in July and was scheduled to face Hayato Tsutsumi in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 27 but withdrew due to injury.

Instead, he will face former IBF champion Kakasi, who relinquished the belt to take on Lee Wood in May, a fight which the 36-year-old won by a ninth-round stoppage at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.

Casassi has been out of the ring since, with a back injury forcing him out of an August meeting with Raymond Ford in Saudi Arabia.

However, he returns to face Dickens as he bids to become a two-time champion, having beaten Joe Cordina to win his first title in Saudi Arabia in May 2024 before defeating Josh Warrington at Wembley Stadium four months later.

The main support on the night will be a lightweight fight between two of Dublin’s top punchers Pierce O’Leary [18-0, 10 KOs]he and Mark Chamberlain of Portsmouth [17-1, 12 KOs].
