According to the iPhone and iPad security advisory, Apple has patched two of the bugs and the company said it was aware “that this issue may have been exploited in a highly sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals” using devices running before iOS 26.
This language is Apple’s typical way of saying that it knows that some of its customers and users have been targeted by hackers with zero-day exploits, meaning flaws that at the time of the exploitation were unknown to the software makers. Often in these cases, government hackers have used hacking and spyware tools made by companies like NSO Group or Paragon Solutions to target journalists, dissidents, and human rights activists.
Apple and Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
