Hamilton Academy is still at risk of going into administration, the new owner admits

“In terms of the situation, it’s a bit delicate,” Edwards told BBC Scotland.

“So, I can’t really go into a great deal of detail at this point other than we’re negotiating to settle that and move forward.

“[The possibility of administration] It depends not only on Funding Globe, but on other creditors and third parties to work with us to find the best solution.

“But management is in no one’s interest.”

Edwards joins Hamilton’s new board along with colleague Neil Blankston and interim chairman Alan Currie.

MSM took over Welsh club Haverfordwest County five-and-a-half years ago, and Edwards says their example is a blueprint to transform Accies.

“This is our sixth season in the Cymru Premier,” Edwards explained. “We have qualified for Europe twice in the last three years.

“Our academy is very productive and on the community side, we are very active. There are probably 35 to 40 hours a week that we devote within the schools, within the stadium and within the local area to directly impact the community.”
