Hamilton Academy received a six-point deduction for not paying players on time, its third point penalty of the season.

In December, the League One club was deducted nine points for failing to successfully obtain a bronze-level Scottish FA club license by 31 March.

This came after losing six points last October due to paying professionals and fielding amateur players during a transfer ban.

The cumulative loss of 21 points leaves Accies second at the bottom of the table on 17 points, three points behind Kelty Hearts and two behind Cove Rangers.

The latest violation relates to failure to pay players on time and in full, on December 31, 2025.

The Scottish Professional Football League says the troubled club has also admitted defaulting on its tax obligations and remains in default on those obligations.

Hamilton was relegated from the Championship last season after receiving a 15-point penalty for a number of offences, including issues relating to stadium ownership and player registration.

All sanctions relate to the previous ownership of Accies, as the club changed hands in early January.

When announcing the latest penalty, the association said that it “continues to work constructively with the new board of directors.”
