I love this band, but I can’t listen to Celebration by Kool & the Gang again. I just can’t.

My daughter loved Pharrell Williams’ Happy because it’s in Despicable Me 2, so it stuck in my head. Farrell is a wonderful writer. It’s an intelligently written song: very gooey and annoying, but because of that, I love it.

“I Won’t Hold You Back” by Toto, which I sampled for the movie “One More Chance.” I heard that Steve Lukather Of Toto was performing at the time Another Chance reached No. 1 in the UK, he said: “This is the record that some DJ turned it to No. 1 and made us a lot of money. I can’t afford it, but this is the original version.” He got 90% of the copyright, so he can’t be that crazy!

“Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac is a motivational, uplifting song in the morning, even though it’s supposed to be a breakup song.

I actually experimented with my own music without realizing it. It just appeared on your playlist. It’s best to use one of the darker tribes like My Roots.
The song that makes me cry
Pearls by Sade is very emotional and moving, but it creates a visual image of what a person is going through. It makes me cry because it’s a sad story, but at the same time there’s hope.
The song I would want played at my funeral
As Stevie Wonder said in the line: “I will always love you / Till the ocean covers every high mountain.”
