Harshit Rana strikes again, bowls Devon Conway for 56 in IND vs NZ 2026 1st ODI [Watch]

Indian seamer Harshit Rana took his second wicket of the match by dismissing New Zealand opener Devon Conway in the first ODI of the three-match series. The match will be played on Sunday, January 11 at BCA Stadium, Kutambi, Vadodara.

The expulsion came on the last ball of the twenty-fourth game of the visitors’ innings. Rana bowled a full-length delivery at 142.2 kmph and then backed off. The left-hander took off with a flourishing drive but got an inside edge that hit leg stump.

Conway played a powerful knock, scoring 56 off 67 balls, including six fours and a six. His dismissal left the visitors at 126/2 at the end of 24 overs.

Both New Zealand openers fell to Harshit Rana after scoring fifties

India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field first. New Zealand opener Henry Nicholls was given an early reprieve in the sixth over when he was dropped by Kuldeep Yadav at third man off the bowling of Harshit Rana. Nicholls and Devon Conway then put together a steady opening stand as the Black Caps reached 49 unbeaten at the end of the powerplay.

The pair maintained the momentum, adding 27 points in the next five overs. Nicholls brought up a half-century off 60 balls in the 20th over, while Conway reached the milestone in the same number of deliveries with boundaries. In the 22nd over, Harshit Rana made the breakthrough by dismissing Nicholls for 62 off 69 balls, claiming the hosts’ first wicket.

The right-arm seamer struck again in the 24th over, removing Conway for 56 to pick up his second wicket of the innings. At the time of writing, the visitors are 143/2 after 27 overs, with Will Young (11) and Darryl Mitchell (10) at the crease.
