Hearts coach Derek McInnes believes his side will “get stronger” in the Scottish Premiership round after victory over Dundee ensured the leaders go into the international break still at the top of the table.

Oisin McEntee’s header secured victory and a fourth successive 1-0 home league win for McInnes’ side, while he welcomed back captain Lawrence Shankland and key midfielder Cammy Devlin for the first time since January.

Celtic came within four points of Hearts with the absence of these two players, and Rangers also closed the gap.

But having done enough to secure their move to April, they lead the way McInnis believes the returning players will strengthen his hand in the final seven games.

“I actually think my faith in the team is greater than ever because I know what comes behind it,” McInnis said.

“I know what’s coming back for Livingston.

“I got it [Tomas] magnuson, [Harry] Milne W [Craig] Halkett was back, and I had to do it [Stuart] Findlay W [Stephen] Kingsley returns.

“I’ve got my team leader back now for another two weeks of training, I’ve got Cami Devlin back, I’ve got Bennie Banningim back. We’re going to get stronger, and we’re going to need that strength.”

“We have been tested recently but despite all that, we will be top of the league in April.

“We are huge underdogs, but for us to stay where we are, getting wins, as we did again, there is a lot to be said for 1-0 wins.”
